Vigésimo disco de estudio y gira de otro de nuestro favoritos, el fantástico Ian Hunter, compositor y cantante del que fuera líder de los esenciales Mott the Hoople para el próximo 4 de septiembre y que se llamará “When I’m President” junto a su banda The Rant Band.
Ian Hunter, “el tipo con las gafas de sol” es otro de los iconos del Rock & Roll con sus 73 años de edad y con un bagaje musical envidiable, sus dos últimos trabajos “Man Overboard” (2009) y especialmente “Shrunken Heads” (2007) son una maravilla, el último sobre todo, Rock and Roll de la vieja escuela.

A finales de los sesenta se intregra en los Mott The Hopple, David Bowie les seguía muy de cerca, hasta que a comienzos de los años setenta les propone que graben una canción suya “All the Young Dudes” (1972) a partir de ahí, varios discos números uno, giras por Estados Unidos y la publicación de un libro, el diario musical del propio Hunter “Diary of a Rock & Roll Star” desatan el gran éxito y desaparición casi de la banda, tras pasar del Rhythm & Blues al Glam más desatado.

Tras abandonar la banda en 1975 hasta nuestros días, Ian Hunter se ha ido enriqueciendo musicalmente con una serie de discos en el que han colaborado lo más granado de la industria musical, su voz cada vez más rasposa es extraordinaria a más no poder, su amistad y colaboración musical con Mick Ronson (uno de los más grandes guitarristas de la historia del Rock y guitarrista de David Bowie), esencial.

Ian Hunter comienza su gira mundial hoy 1 de septiembre en Portland, Estados Unidos para presentar su nuevo trabajo “When I’m President”, pasando por Europa, y regresando de nuevo a Norteamérica para culminar el 1 de diciembre en Boston, sin fechas confirmadas en España.

On September 3, 2012, Hunter will release When I’m President, his 20th album of original songs, and the latest highlight in a storied career that’s produced immortal anthems like “All The Young Dudes,” “All the Way From Memphis,” “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” and “Cleveland Rocks.”
The new album’s 11 Hunter originals include such infectious, personally charged numbers as the wry, socially conscious title track, the gently introspective “Fatally Flawed” the bittersweet ballad “Black Tears,” the chugging rocker “Wild Bunch,” the swaggering “I Don’t Know What You Want” (which features a guest vocal by Hunter’s son Jesse) and the vivid, haunting “Ta Shunka Witco (Crazy Horse)” — all of which showcase the jagged immediacy of Hunter’s one-of-a-kind voice and the punchy authority of his longstanding all-star backup combo the Rant Band.
