Ray Price falleció ayer 16 de diciembre de 2013 a los 87 años de edad, tras una larga enfermedad, uno de los pioneros del sonido Honky Tonk y Western Swing en el Country en los años cincuenta.
Ray Price fue fundador de una súper banda heredada de su amigo Hank Williams, The Cherokee Cowboys, antiguos The Drifting Cowboys, con grandes artistas como Roger Miller, Willie Nelson, Lefty Frizzell, Darrell McCall, Van Howard, Johnny Paycheck and Johnny Bush, Buddy Emmons, Pete Wade, Jan Kurtis, Shorty Lavender y Buddy Spicher.
Ray Price publicó su primer álbum «Sings Heart Songs» en 1957 su primer álbum, el último junto a Willie Nelson y Merle Haggard en el 2007 titulado «Last Of The Breed», etre sus más de cien grandes éxitos, sus temas más conocidos fueron «Your Wedding Corsage» / «Jealous Lies», «Don’t Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes», «I’ll Be There (If You Ever Want Me)», «Release Me», «If You Don’t, Somebody Else Will», «Run Boy», «Crazy Arms», «I’ve Got a New Heartache», «My Shoes Keep Walking Back to You», «Make the World Go Away»,»City Lights», «Won’t Mention It Again», «She’s Got to Be a Saint», «You’re the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me» y sobre todo «For the Good Times» en 1970 en un acercamiento al nuevo movimiento Country llamado Nashville Sound.
Mediocres discos de Ray Price y ostracismo durante mediados de los años setente, y en el que despunta en los ochenta junto a su amigo Willie Nelson en el disco «San Antonio Rose» con su famoso tema «Faded Love».
