Eric Clapton anuncia la publicación de un disco homenaje a su amigo J.J. Cale titulado «The Breeze: An Appreciation of J.J. Cale», para el próximo 29 de julio y en el que un cojunto de destacados músicos como Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, Don White, Christine Lakeland y Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band) participan en el álbum en que se hacen llamar Eric Clapton & Friends.
J.J. Cale falleció el pasado año a los 74 años de edad, el compositor, guitarrista, cantante norteamericano y pionero del sonido Tulsa influyó en artistas como Allman Brothers, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Eric Clapton, Carl Radle, Captain Beefheart, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes o Bryan Ferry, expresión originada en Oklahoma en la década de los años cincuenta con la aparición de un disco de Rocky Frisco, pianista de J.J. Cale, “The Big Ten” (1959) con esa combinación de sucio Blues, County, Jazz y Rock, el Southern Rock más sosegado de los años setenta.

J.J. Cale contribuyó a que dos canciones suyas «After Midnight» y «Cocaine», interpretadas por Eric Clapton, revalorizarán más la carrera del británico, y ambos realizaron un álbum conjunto en el 2006 con «The Road to Escondido».
«Call me the Breeze» es el primer adelanto del nuevo disco tributo a J.J. Cale «The Breeze: An Appreciation of J.J. Cale», interpretada por Eric Clapton y original de Cale de 1972, tema popularizado por Lynyrd Skynyrd en su disco «Second Helping» de 1974.
