Zachary James, un joven genio estadounidense que con poco más de veintiséis años quiere difundir mediante el Rock’n’Roll conceptos de los 60 como paz y amor universal, primero a través de su banda Zachary James & the All Seeing Eyes con dos discos publicados hasta la fecha «All Seeing Eyes» (2009) y «Space Case» (2012) y un último trabajo un single «Chains/ Don’t Let Them Get Me» (2014), álbumes que beben del mejor Power Pop, Rock & Roll, Glam y sonidos del New Orleans más sucio, hedor a Louisina por todos los costados.
Zachary James, cantante, guitarrista, compositor, productor y dueño de un sello discográfico y estudio Starry Eyes Studios en Silver Lake en Los Angeles junto a su novia la cantante Alexandra Starlight, comenzó a tocar a los quince años con la banda de su ciudad en Ventura, The Thunderboys en 2005 publicando un single «Can’t Stop Drinkin/Bout You» antes de que se graduara en el instituto y producido por Matt Hyde (Slayer, No Doubt, Monster Magnet, Sublime, Porno for Pyros) y firmando para uno de los sellos más importantes en la costa oeste de Estados Unidos Gearhead Records radicado en en San Francisco al que han pertenecido y despegado The Hives, New Bomb Turks, The Hellacopters, Lords of Altamont o Hellbound Glory.
Zachary James comparte también otros proyectos musicales junto con Alexandra & The Starlight Band, su novia desde 2008, Alexandra Lee diseñadora de moda, cantante y compositora, y Porcelain Black, ambos como guitarrista.

Dirty Rock se puso en contacto en directo con Zachary James que se encuentra en sus estudios en la ciudad de Los Angeles una mañana del mes de enero.
Con todos ustedes Zachary James que ha accedido amablemente a que todos los lectores de Dirty Rock lo conozcan a través de esta entrevista en dirty rock magazine.
Entrevista a Zachary James.
1.- ¡Buenos días Zach!, ¿pordrías presentarte a tus nuevos seguidores en España y contarnos que tienes entre manos ahora?
¡Sí! Hola me llamo Zachary James. En estos momentos mis próximos objetivos consisten en iniciar un nuevo proyecto musical, gira mundial y ayudar a despertar la consciencia humana en su globalidad.
2.-¿Qué quieres decir con eso de ayudar a despertar la consciencia humana en su globalidad y qué diferencias habrá entre este tu nuevo proyecto y el anterior con All Seeing Eyes?
Claro por supuesto que te lo explico. Lo que quiero decir con el despertar general de la consciencia, es que debe haber un cambio para traer de vuelta la consciencia de nuestro verdadero ser, para luego razonar de lo que realmente merece la pena y lo que no. Básicamente estar siempre despiertos y ver a los demás como hermanos y hermanas. En cuanto a si habrá cambios en este nuevo proyecto con respecto a The All Seeing Eyes, lo habrá. Mi novia Alexandra Lee (Alexandra and The Starlight Band, Porcelain Black), tenemos nuestras propias bandas, pero con los mismos músicos, dos conciertos por noche, la idea es la de aunar esfuerzos y comenzar un nuevo proyecto juntos. El último trabajo de Zachary James and The All Seeing Eyes fue el el single de 7″ publicado en abril del 2014 titulado «Chains/Don’t let them get me».
3.- ¿Tenéis algún nuevo nombre del grupo y estará tu novia en ese proyecto Zach?
Estamos trabajando en ello conjuntamente con nuestro productor, y si Alex estará en ese proyecto junto con todos los músicos de nuestros proyectos All Seeing Eyes y Starlight Band.
4.- ¿Será vuestra sonido similar al de proyectos anteriores o rastrearéis nuevos sonidos?
Definitivamente exploraremos nuevos sonidos. Siempre estaremos influenciados por el Punk y Rock and Roll, pero introduciremos más Gospel y Soul también. Quizás un poco de Hip Hop también.

5.- ¿El sello discográfico Starry Eyes es vuestro? Su nombre nos recuerda a una de las mejores canciones del tejano Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators), un genio a la hora de crear Power Pop y Rock and Roll
Sí, Starry Eyes es nuestro sello discográfico y también el nombre de nuestros estudios de grabación aquí en Silverlake. Crecí en un ambiente de Power Pop y para mí Rocky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators) es como un hermano, ¡sus discos son fantásticos! Nuestro último disco «Space Case» (2012) fue definitivamente más Power Pop que el anterior «All Seeing Eyes» (2009).
6.- ¿Estáis produciendo nuevas bandas en vuestro sello Starry Eyes studio, y podrías darnos el par de nombres de bandas interesantes en Los Angeles y alrededores?
Crecí en el condado de Ventura, al noroeste de Los Angeles, ahora vivimos en Silver Lake al noreste de la ciudad. Y todas las bandas que están grabando en nuestros estudios son totalmente nuevas. Recimientemente grabaron Modern Kicks, una banda que hace Power Pop cojonudo estilo Cheap Trick, como otra banda llamada Die Evil Die una mezcla entre Nirvana y Chuck Berry. The Bixby Knolls son otra banda muy buena de esta zona, a los que nunca he grabado, pero son grandes amigos. Suenan como a The Clash haciendo música de la Motown. Como otros buenos amigos los Dirty Eyes, Punk y Rock and Roll muy directo.
¡Increíble la escena musical en Los Angeles como siempre con esa mezcla de estilos y sonidos que la hacen tan rica. Cheap Trick para nosotros siempre una de nuestras grandes influencias Zach!
Me encantan Cheap Trick, muchísima buena musica alrededor nuestro. Estoy seguro que habéis escuchado a The Biters, tienen una onda parecida a los Cheap Trick también.
7.- Las comparaciones son siempre odiosas pero ¿cómo intérprete y guitarrista a quién te gustaría ser comparado?
Siempre me ha encantado el Blues y todos sus intérpretes como Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, Ronnie Wood, y que siempre se han caracterizado por un gran sonido. Cualquiera de ellos podría transmitir su personalidad a su instrumento.
8.- ¿Cuánto de importancia tiene la estética en tu ropa, portadas de discos e imágen?
Me encanta crear el aspecto visual tanto como hacer música. Es otro comportamiento más de creatividad. Como la música no es una elección sino una parte más de mi vida que realmente disfruto. La estética también inspira la música y viceversa.
9.- Estamos realmente sorprendidos con con todo tu saber sobre música en muchísimos aspectos siendo tan joven Zach, ¿pero de dónde viene todo?
Mis amigos escuchaban siempre a the Rolling Stones, The Who o Alice Cooper gente que me volvía loco. Aquello me ayudó a adentrarme en el mundo de la música británica y Punk neoyorquino de los años 70, para luego encontrarme debajo de ello todo el maravilloso mundo del Blues.
10.- «All Seeing Eyes» (2009) es tu primer discos en solitario, el cual es más setentero, más Bowie, Faces, Stones que tu segundo disco «Space Case» (2012), que es más Punk. ¿Por qué ese cambio de sonido y estética en tu forma de vestir y segundo disco con referencias a Dr. John y todo ese mundo esotético y símbolos Voodoo del Cajun?
Sí, todas esas influencias siempre han estado ahí desde el Blues y la onda de Nueva Orleans pasando por el Punk y el Glam. En determinados periodos de mi carrera he estado más obsesionado por un estilo u otro. Este nuevo proyecto es definitivamente la primera salida hacia un nuevo territorio. Ese será el mayor cambio y definitivo. Respecto a lo que cuentas sobre el aspecto Voodoo y Dr. John, siempre he diseñado y pintado cosas misteriosas y extrañas que no vemos con nuestros ojos. La música de Dr. John personifica toda esa gran mezcla de Blues y Soul.

11.- ¿España estará incluida como destino en tu próxima y primer gira europea en un futuro, y estaría dispuesto a grabar una versión por ejemplo del clásico de Burning «Jim Dinamita» para incluirlo en un futuro disco como reclamo al público español?
Me encanta la idea de ir a España en esa nueva gira europea. La idea es que la gira vaya al Reino Unido, Europa, Australia y Asia también. ¡Nunca sabremos lo que lo ocurrirá en un futuro próximo!. Sobre lo que me preguntas sobre Burning y ese tema «Jim Dinamita» es que me gusta bastante, pero prefiero componer mis propias canciones.
12.-¿Cómo es la escena musical de Los Angeles respecto al Rock, Punk, Blues, Country o música de raíces en estos momentos?
La escena musical angelina está floreciente desde luego. Hay un montón de pequeños crupúsculos de estilos en esta gran comunidad llamada Los Angeles. Grandísimas nuevas bandas que están tocando ya a la puerta. Y siento como ahora mismo estamos en un gran momento de creatividad en la ciudad. La escena de Garage en la ciudad ahora mismo es impresionante y pujante. Cuando empezamos no existía nada de esto, ahora es fantástico ver como aparecen nuevos nombres y grupos para realmente disfrutarlos.
13.-¿Conoces alguna banda de Rock o artista español Zachary James?
No conozco a nadie en estos momentos, ¡pero me encantaría que vosotros me ayudáseis con las recomendaciones!.
14.- ¿Cres que en la escena musical en Europa, el oyente es más imparcial que en Estados Unidos o al revés y por qué?
Parece que hay más coherencia en lo musical en Europa que en Estados Unidos, pero no puedo afirmarlo rotudamente desde luego. Tengo muchos amigos que han estado allá y han obtenido muchísimo éxito. Creo que en Estados Unidos la escena musical está más aislada e internet hace su trabajo ya que proporciona ese producto hacia cierto tipo de mercado.
15.-¿Cómo es Zachary james encima de un escenario, y cómo crees que son los seguidores en nuestro país y qué has escuchado de ellos?
¡Sobre el público español me han contado maravillas y algunos me han dicho que son los mejores, siempre hay algo que celebrar y los conciertos son una gran fiesta! ¿Es eso cierto? Jajajjaja. Encima de un escenario intento olvidarme de todo y dejo que todo fluya. ¡Es uno de los pocos lugares en los que realmente me encuentro libre!
16.- ¿Hay algo que te gustaría decir y que no te hayamos preguntado?
¡Eso y hablar sobre la meditación, jajajaja!. Ha sido incréible charlar con vosotros y todos vuestros lectores. Muchísmas gracias por ser parte de vuestra revista, dirty rock magazine.

Interview to Zachary James.
1.- Good Morning Zach, could you introduce yourself to the new Spanish audience and what are you dealing with right now?
Yea! Hola me llamo Zachary James. Currently the future goals are to get our new project launched, tour the world, and help bring about global awakening.
2.- What does Global awaking means to you and are there too gap differences with your last project with All Seeing Eyes?
Yea fer shr. What I mean by global awakening is that I believe there is a shift in conciseness slowly occurring to bring back awareness of our true selves and what this reality truly is and what it isn’t. Basically that we all open eyes ans see everyone for our true brothers and sisters. Yes lots of changes with the All Seeing Eyes. Alex and I had our separate bands but were sharing the same musicians and touring together playing two shows a night when we realized that we needed to combine efforts and start a project together. The 7″ we released last 4/20 was the the last All Seeing Eyes release.
3.- Any name for the new band and is Alex your fiancée working at duo with you?
We’re still working out the final details with our manager and producer for the new projects name and everything else but it’s a duo featuring me and Alex with our previous band from the All Seeing Eyes and her band the Starlight band playing with us.
4.- Is the sound of your new project similar to your previous albums or are you exploring new sounds?
We’re definitely exploring new sounds. We’ll always be influenced by punk rock and rock n roll but we’re bringing in more gospel and soul as well.
Maybe a little hip hop too.
5.-Is Starry Eyes your own record label company? Record label reminds us to one of the best songs of Roky Erickson, a mix or Power Pop and R&R.
Yea Starry Eyes is the label we self release thorough and the name of our studio. Grew up on punky power pop vibes love Roky like a brother and the Records rule! The last record we put out was definitely more power pop then the previous.
6.- Are you producing new bands at Starry Eyes studio? And could you make us known some interesting bands in Los Angeles and L.A. around town?
I grew up in Ventura. Now we live in Silver Lake north east LA area. All new bands so far. Recently recorded Modern Kicks they’re doing cool power pop rock n roll ala cheap trick, also had Die Evil Die down they’re like Nirvana meets Chuck Berry. Bixby Knolls are another cool band in the area haven’t recorded with with them but they’re good friends. They sound like The Clash doing motown music. Our friends Dirty Eyes are another great band straight up punky rock n roll.
Awsome scene you’re bring up to us with that mix of styles and sounds. Cheap Trick is one of the biggest influences on us!
Love cheap trick! Lotsa great music around! I’m sure you’ve heard of The Biters they’ve got a great cheap trick vibe.
7.- The comparisons are always odious but as performer and guitarist with whom’d like to be compared?
I’ve always really loved blues players like Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, Ronnie Wood always had a great sound, Mick Ronson too. Anyone who could convey their personality through their instrument.
8.- How important is for your appearance and esthetics?
I love creating the visual aspect just as much as the music. It’s another act of creativity. Like music it’s not a choice just another part of life that I enjoy. It also inspires the music and vice versa.
9.- We are really amazed about your music knowledments being so young though Zach, but from where does it came from?
My folks listened to the Rolling Stones, The Who Alice Cooper really loved him. That got me started then I got into the British and New York 70’s punk and the started digging from there unearthing all the rock n roll I could find till I got back to the blues.
10.- «All Seeing Eyes» (2009) your first solo album is more 70’s, Bowie, Faces, Stones than second one «Space Case» (2012) that looks punk(er) . Why those changes in sound and aesthetics like those eye symbols and esoterics Voodoo Cajun looks?
Yea all the influences have always been in there from the blues/ New Orleans vibes to the punk and glam. Certain times I’m more fixated on one more than the other. This new project is the first real departure from that into new territory. This will be the last major change. As for Dr. John and the Voodoo aspects I’ve always been drawn to the unknown mysteries of the world we don’t see with our physical eyes. His music really embodies that with a great mix of blues and soul.
11.- Spain will be included in your very first European Tour and would you willing to record a song for example by Burning «Jim Dinamita» to introduce yourself to the Spanish audience?
I love the idea of visiting Spain. Definitely want to focus on UK, Europe, Australia, Asia as well. Right now we’re focusing on launching the new project but you never know what will happen in the future! Loved Burning tune though!
12.- How is Los Angeles musical scene and their culture of Rock, Punk, Blues, Rock, Country or Roots music right now?
The music scene is thriving for sure. There’s a lot of smaller scene opposed to one big community. There’s lots of great bands coming up. I feel that soul has had a real moment again. The garage scene is huge right now. That never existed when we first started playing so it’s great to see it come to the surface for more to enjoy.
13.- Do you know Spanish Rock & Roll music, artist, etc?
I don’t know of many current Spanish bands or artists would love to if you guys have any recommendations!
14.- Do you think musical scene in Europe is much more detached than United States or opposite and why?
It seems like there’s a more cohesive music scene in Europe but I can’t say that for sure. I have friends who have a lot of success touring there. US is defintely detached and the internet really caters to small niche scenes.
15.- How is a Zach on the stage? and do you think is the Spanish audience, what have you heard about it?
The Spanish audiences I’ve been told are some of the best! Always a huge party! I guess you can tell me if that’s right haha? On stage I try to let forget everything and let it all fall away. One of the few places to truly be free!
16.- Is There anything you want to tell us we won’t ask you?
