Ape Skull, trío italiano de robusto Rock Blues y Psicodelia visitan por primera vez España en una gira conjunta con el hombre banda italiano Belly Hole Freak, denominada«That’s All I Want Tour». Ape Skull compuesto por Pierpaolo Pastorelli (bajo), Fulvio Cartacci (guitarra) y Giuliano Padroni (batería y vocalista) presentarán su segundo trabajo editado hasta la fecha «Fly Camel Fly», publicado en 2015.
Belly Hole Freak abrirá los conciertos de Ape Skull en esta gira española, un singular hombre orquesta que apuesta por el blues del delta, swing, rock… con la intención de utilizar un lenguaje escénico licuado en la música recreado en una comunicación donde juega con textos divertidos y a veces absurdos.

Entrevista a Ape Skull previa a su gira española 2016:
1. Primero que nada, ¡daros la bienvenida Ape Skull a España!, siendo grandes alumnos del Hard Rock Blues setentero, cómo Ape Skull ha gestionado a lo largo de estos 8 años desde su formación tras un dos disos de estudio ¿cómo encaráis esta próxima gira en España?
Durante todos estos años hemos continuado tocando y ganando experiencia. Simplemente tenemos esa pasión por la música que proviene del Blues y va hacia esa psicodelia del rock de los sesenta y setentas. ¿Que cómo encaramos esta opción de España? Pues como otra alternativa, sabemos que el publico apreciará el tipo de música que hacemos en nuestros conciertos.
2. ¿Cómo se construyó vuestro disco “Fly Camel Fly” (2015) ,alguna historia detrás de su título o alguna canción?, ¿ se lograron vuestras metas y hay un nuevo disco en el camino?
Por supuesto que el título y canciones tienen un gran significado para nosotros. El camello es un símbolo de la supervivencia, una criatura que puede cruzar desiertos. Símbolo del optimismo, con certeza de una manera psicodélica, pero con optimismo.
3. ¿Podríais contar a la audiencia en España Ape Skull de dónde procede vuestro aprendizaje y experiencia musical y qué, músicos os han inspirado o influenciado a la hora de crear vuestro propio estilo?
Nunca tuvimos un objetivo. Excepto que queríamos grabar nuestros propios temas. Lo hacemos porque es nuestra música, recibido reciprocidad por parte del público. En estos momentos estamos trabajando en nuevas canciones para poner un nuevo disco en la calle muy pronto. Tocamos desde que eramos muy jóvenes, crecimos con muchísimos géneros alrededor nuestro, por supuesto el blues representa la base común para esta formación. Podríamos hablar aquí también de muchas influencias, nombres y bandas pero serían muchísimas las influencias.
4.¿Cual sería la mejor satisfacción que les gustaría llevarse tras los conciertos en España?
Nuestro principal deseo es involucrar a nuestro público en cada concierto a pasárselo bien.
5. ¿Cómo es la escena musical de Italia o Roma que es donde residís y su cultura en cuanto a géneros como Rock, Country, Blues, Americana o música de raíces en estos momentos?
Hay un gran momento musical en estos momentos tanto en Roma como en el resto de Italia durante los últimos años. Muchas jóvenes bandas están saliendo, y eso es lo mejor que nos podría haber pasado. Es complicado daros algunos nombres. Os invitamos a que indaguéis sobre esta nueva realidad en nuestro país y en otros países que sabemos ocurre lo mismo.
6. ¿Qué tipo de música escucháis cuando vais de gira en la furgoneta, algún buen disco, canción, banda que os guste últimamente? ¿Conocéis algún artista español?
Cuando viajamos y estamos de gira escuchamos toda clase de discos que nos gustan, bien sea Rock, Blues, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Folk, Progressive Rock, Funk, Cumbia, etc. Frecuentemente escuchamos novedades que vayan saliendo en ese momento. Nos encantan mucho bandas españolas de los 60’s y 70’s, interesantes muchas de ellas. Personalmente creemos que no hay barreras geográficas para destacar música realmente buena, echaríamos a perder esa posibilidad.
7. ¿Qué sensaciones tenéis sobre lo ocurrido en París y sus atentados terroristas, y cómo creéis que estos problemas podrían ser resueltos?. Residiendo en Italia, ¿creéis que la situación vivida durante el concierto de Eagles of Death Metal podría ocurrir en vuestro país?
Son momentos duros para París, Bruselas y muchas otras tragedias olvidadas. Nos sentimos muy tristes por lo ocurrido también en Pakistán. Naturalmente podría ocurrir en Italia y en otros muchos lugares.
8. ¿Hay algo que os gustaría decir Ape Skull? y que no te hayamos preguntado?, ¿os gustaría enviarle un mensaje a los lectores de Dirty Rock para animarlos a ver uno de tus conciertos?
No diría más, excepto que estaremos muy contentos de tocar en España y compartir escenario con nuestros hermanos y amigos Belly Hole Freak. Llevaremos nuestro rock de vuelta, algo que consideramos vivo, en progreso. Alguien dijo aquello de que «el rock estaba muerto, larga vida al rock».
Interview to Ape Skull:
1.First of all, Welcome to Spain!, being great students of the sound Hard Rock Blues of the 60’s and 70’s, how managed through these 8 years and after 2 studio albums and now facing your first Spanish tour ?
During these years, we continued playing on our background. We simply have an individual passion, from the blues to the psychedelic expression of rock in the Sixties and Seventies. How do we manage this tour in Spain? We know Spain has a great alternative music scene, we really hope people will appreciate our music and our concerts. We will do.
2.How did “Fly Camel Fly” (2015) come together guys and should be a story behind the title of record or song? In sitting down to record “Fly Camel Fly” what were your goals and do you think you accomplished them compared to previous one in? New record is coming?
Surely the title has a meaning, in our songs as in our album. The camel is a symbol of surviving, is a creature that can cross the deserts. So it’s a symbol of optimism, certainly in a «psychedelic way», but optimism.
3.Could you tell Spanish audience guys musical background Ape Skull and Who inspires you to do what you do and which musicians that have influenced your sound and approach to creating your own style of music?
We had not a target… Except the fact We wanted record new materials. We do it because it is our music, if people like it, if feedbacks We receive are good, we are very glad about it. Actually, we are working on new songs. We hope to have, soon, a new lp out. We play since We were young boys, we grew up with many genres, surely the blues represents the common base for all of our formations. We could talk of many musicians and bands. We have so many inputs that pass through many artists.
4.What is the best satisfaction you would like to take with you after the shows in Spain?
Our best wish is to involve our audience and to have fun.
5.How is Rome and Italy musical scene and their culture of Rock and Rock right now and specially talking about Rock and Roll, Blues, Soul, Americana, etc? What bands do you follow in Italy?
In Rome and in Italy is a good moment in Rock during the last years. Many new and young bands and artists are growing, is the best thing We can wish on. Is very difficult to give you some names.
We invite you to follow this new reality, that in Italy as in many other countries is very positive and interesting.
6. What kind of music you guys listen to while on the road in your van? Any good song, record, band you lately like ? Do you know Spanish Rock or Rock artist, etc?
When We travel, we listen so many things, any thing We like… Rock, Blues, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Folk, Progressive Rock, Funk, Cumbia… We often listen to new issues of rock, blues scene.
We really appreciate much Spanish bands of the 60’s and 70’s, they’re interesting and very valid Groups that we have always enjoyed. This also applies to the reality of the last years. We think that dont really interesting geographical boundaries but the good music and luckily we are spoiled for choice.
7.What are your feelings about what happened in Paris a last year? How do you think these issues can be solved? Living in Italy, do you think a situation like one lived at the Eagles of Death Metal concert could have ever happened there?
Is a very hard and difficult moment. Paris, Brussels and many other forgotten tragedies… We feel very sad about what happened today in Pakistan. Of course, it can happen in Italy like in many other places.
8.Is There anything you want to tell us we won’t ask you Ape Skull? and Would you mind send Dirty Rock readers a message and encourage them to see Ape Skull in your upcoming shows in Spain?
There’s nothing else We can tell you, except We are very glad to play in Spain sharing the stage with our brother and fellow BELLY HOLE FREAK. We will carry our rock, that’s not a revival but something We considerate alive, in progress.
