The Vintage Caravan nos adelantan el tema que abrirá su nuevo disco “Monuments”, de la mano de Napalm Records. Formará parte de su quinto álbum de estudio y estará disponible el 16 de abril de 2021. La canción, “Whispers” fue, según los propios miembros, una de las primeras ideas que tuvieron para el nuevo disco y querían arrancar con algo potente y fuerte.
Los de Álftanes han ido madurando durante los años, hechizando a los amantes del ‘retro-rock’, stoner, blues rock e incluso a los fans más metaleros, desde 2009, hasta consolidar su sonido setentero con “Voyage” (2012). El cañonazo llegó en 2015 cuando editaron su tercer disco, “Arrival”, un disco de diez temas contundentes llenos de poderosos riffs y líneas de bajo pesadas y retumbantes. Cada tres años lanzan un nuevo trabajo, y en 2018 el resultado fue una versión más psicodélica de su estilo rock clásico-bluesero con “Gateways”.
Pero donde realmente ganan es en la puesta en directo. The Vintage Caravan ha tocado en grandes festivales como Hellfest, Roadburn, Summerbreeze, Wacken, e incluso aquí en nuestro país, en 2016 cuando tocaron en Vitoria en el Azkena Rock Festival.
“Monuments”, el nuevo disco del trio islandés contará con la misma formación que ha tenido desde su segundo trabajo en 2015: Óskar Logi (vocalista y guitarrista), Alex Örn (bajo) y Guðjón Reynisson (batería).
«¡Estamos orgullosos de presentarles nuestro nuevo álbum “Monuments”! Hemos tardado mucho en hacerlo pero estamos convencidos de que sea nuestro mejor trabajo hasta ahora. Nos encerramos en el legendario estudio islandés, Hljóðriti, durante la temporada más tormentosa del invierno pasado y grabamos pista tras pista, sin parar, durante 22 días, las veinticuatro horas del día para hacerlo posible. Afortunadamente, terminamos de grabar justo antes de que empezara la pandemia.
Habiendo trabajado con el productor Ian Davenport en nuestro álbum anterior, “Gateways”, nos sentíamos cómodos e inspirados para llevar el álbum a nuevas alturas en términos de sonido, sensaciones y la composición de los temas. Terminamos con un conjunto de canciones bastante diverso a través de un proceso interesante y en muchos sentidos diferente al de nuestras sesiones de grabación habituales. Fue increíble poder experimentar más con nuestro sonido y de forma tan distinta. ¡Esperamos que disfrutéis del viaje a través de “Monuments”!»

The Vintage Caravan release “Whispers”, a sneak peek into their upcoming album, Monuments.
The Vintage Caravan have given us a sneak peek into the album they are about to release on the Napalm Records label called Monuments, available on April 16, 2021. “Whispers”, the opening track song to the upcoming fifth studio album was, according to the members themselves, one of the first things they came up with for the album. They always try to start them out in a strong and powerful way and this one felt fitting as an opener.
The trio from Álftanes have matured over the years, captivating lovers of classic ‘retro-rock’, stoner, blues rock and even some metalheads since they started out in 2009 until they consolidated their unique seventies sound with Voyage (2012 ). But they really hit the nail on the head when they released their third album, Arrival (2015), a compilation of ten hard-hitting songs full of powerful riffs and heavy, rumbling bass lines. It seems that every three years they release a new album, and in 2018, it was time for a more psychedelic version of their bluesy, classic rock style with Gateways.
But when they really shine is with their live shows. The Vintage Caravan has played at many international festivals such as Hellfest, Roadburn, Summerbreeze, Wacken, and even here in Spain, in 2016, when they played in Vitoria at the Azkena Rock Festival.
Monuments, the Icelanders’ upcoming release will feature the same line-up they’ve had since they released their second album in 2015: Óskar Logi (vocalist and guitarist), Alex Örn (bass) and Guðjón Reynisson (drums).
The band says, “We are proud to present to you our new album Monuments! This one has been long in the making and we truly believe this is our best work so far. We went into a legendary Icelandic studio, Hljóðriti, during the stormiest season of last winter and tracked non-stop for 22 days, working around the clock to get as much done as possible. Luckily enough we finished tracking just before the pandemic hit.
Having worked with producer Ian Davenport on our previous album Gateways, we were comfortable and inspired to take the album to new heights in terms of sound, feel and song-writing. We ended up with quite a diverse set of songs through an interesting and in many ways different process than our usual recording sessions. It was a great feeling to get to experiment more with our sound in so many different ways. We hope you’ll enjoy the journey through Monuments!”
