«Long Promised Road» is the title of an upcoming documentary that chronicles the life, career and legacy of The Beach Boys frontman, Brian Wilson. The name comes from one of the songs on Surf’s Up (1971), written by Carl Wilson and Jack Rieley. The film will be featured as a world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York this June.

Brian Wilson has been a member of The Beach Boys for 60 of his 78 years (he’s turning 79 in June) and he hasn’t slowed down for one minute. A few years ago, he celebrated the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds, performing in almost 200 concerts in more than 20 countries. The co-founder of TheBeach Boys composed a great part of the timeless soundtrack of the most lysergic pop that was more than just music for surfers in the sixties. With painstaking care on the harmonization of his songs and an exquisite palate for instrumentation, his lyrics transport us from a most feral hippy lifestyle and indolent beach energy to the dizzying heights from which this tortured genius has plunged, in free fall.
