The Pink Stones, a group based in Athens, Georgia, debuts today, April 9th, with their album Introducing… the Pink Stones. Thanks to inspiration they have drawn from artists of the likes of Gram Parsons, the Grateful Dead, Poco, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Mazzy Star and Kurt Vile, the band wraps their songs in melancholy that is pleasantly both critical and witty.
Su líder Hunter Pinkston (voz, guitarra) tiñe sus letras que van desde temas de puesta de sol acústicos soñolientos hasta improvisaciones de rock honky-tonk aptas para bailar mal y derramar algunas cervezas de countrypolitan y del mejor folk, pop, psicodelia y rock cósmico.
Frontman Hunter Pinkston (vocals, guitar) adds his special touch to the lyrics on songs that range from sleepy, acoustic, sunset tunes to countrypolitan, or the finest folk, pop, psychedelia and cosmic rock to honky-tonk, rock improv that will get even the worst dancers shaking their stuff and spilling a few beers.

Most of the band members haven’t even turned 25 yet, but veteran John Neff, one of the founding members of Drive-By Truckers, steps in to offer his experience and sense of legacy to the group and their 10 songs, produced by Henry Barbe (Drive-By Truckers, Deerhunter) and recorded at Chase Park Transduction and the Barn in Athens.

The Pink Stones delve into the grand tradition of Southern jangle from back home, mixed with a swirl of cosmic country. Instead of simply mimicking the styles, the group injects something fresh and youthful in their sound, giving it a light, laid-back rock feel that hits you like a candy-coated ray of sunshine.

One helluva album.
