Los primeros nombres de la 24ª edición del festival TakeRoot que se celebrará el sábado 5 de noviembre que tendrá lugar en De Oosterpoort en Groningen, Holanda, el festival anual más importante de Americana y de música estadounidense raíces, presente pasada y futura donde Dirty Rock Magazine estará nuevamente presente.
Esta nueva edición del TakeRoot Festival está encabezada por los cabezas de cartel Band of Horses, Courtney Barnett y Gregory Alan Isakov, más grandes nombres como The Sadies, Mary Gauthier, Watchhouse anteriormente conocidos como Mandolin Orange, Charley Crockett, The Hanging Stars, Neal Francis, Jeffrey Foucault, Josua Hedley, Riley Downing, Cowboy Junkies, Shakey Graves, Hollis Brown, Anaïs Mitchell, Chris Thile, Aoife O’Donovan, SG goodman y muchas más joyas ocultas por descubrir y confirmar.
Este año el TakeRoot Festival regresa a su puerto base, De Oosterpoort, en Groningen, descartando el centro de la ciudad de y sus seis ubicaciones: Stadsschouwburg, Grand Theatre, Vera, Huize Maas, Der Aa theatre y la Iglesia Luterana en la que tuvo lugar la pasada edición.
El TakeRoot festival comenzó su andadura en septiembre de 1998 en la localidad de Assen al sur de Groningen con nombres desconocidos e interesantes hasta entonces como Chris Whitley, Victoria Williams, Chip Taylor para despegar definitivamente al año siguiente y años sucesivos con apariciones como las de Steve Earle, Dan Penn & Spooner Oldham, Tony Joe White, Fred Eaglesmith, Cracker, Jesse Malin, Vic Chesnutt, Tim Easton, Cowboy Junkies, Giant Sand, The Sadies, Th’ Legendary Shack*Shakers, A.J. Croce, Chatham County Line, EELS, Richmond Fontaine, Colin Linden, Neal Casal, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Steve Wynn, The Paladins, Tom Russell, The Gourds, Beth Hart, Jason Ringenberg, Walter Trout, Mary Gauthier, o Jimmy LaFave, entre otros.
