Myron Elkins is barely twenty years old but last Friday, he already released his first album “Factories, Farms & Amphetamines”. This gem of a record, produced by Dave Cobb, is a wonderful cocktail of soul, country and blues. There’s no beating around the bush in this exceptionally remarkable album as he hones in on sweetening up his old school sound.

Back when the pandemic was in full throttle, Myron was already causing waves with his release of the EP “Just another asshole with a guitar”, a striking debut that turned all our heads, offering a new look into somewhat traditional country with hints of rock, soul and blues.

Elkins and his deep, nuance-filled voice will knock you off your feet as he and his top-notch band keep the train going for over half an hour. He writes and performs like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash and oozes talent and skill that’s well beyond what you’d expect from someone his age. Myron showcases his flair for songwriting as he and his band, The Dying Breed, sing about life, youth, love, family and even addiction.

Myron Elkins comes from a small town near Kalamazoo, Michigan, where friends are family and family are friends. Values matter. It’s that kind of place, where a handshake is all you need to seal the deal and where you do your best to live up to your family name. It’s a place that doesn’t exist anymore: where your elders made you who you are today and where you don’t let fear get in the way of free thought. Where dignity still lies. Surely, this will be one of this year’s best albums – and we’re just starting out! 2023 is looking good already.
