El decimotercer álbum de estudio de Old 97 ya está aquí se llama «American Primitive» y verá la luz el 5 de abril. El mismo está producido por Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Neko Case) y cuenta con las apariciones en el mismo de Peter Buck (REM), Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5), The Baseball Project y Filthy Friends.
Después de pasar el año pasado celebrando el 30º aniversario, Old 97 grabaron el álbum en Portland, siendo el primer disco de la banda sin preproducción y con la banda improvisando por instintos.
