Bruce Springsteen estrena nuevo vídeo “Death to my Hometown” de su último disco “Wrecking Ball”, con imágenes extraídas de varios conciertos, entre ellos su concierto en el Apollo de Nueva York el 10 de marzo de 2012.
Su primer y apoteósico concierto de la gira “Wrecking Ball” en el Philips Arena de Atlanta, el 18 de marzo, con imágenes de ensayos y en el Festival SXSW de Austin, (South by Southwest) en el que aparece junto a The E Stret Band y Tom Morello (Rage against the Machine, Tool, Cypress Hill o Audioslave).
La canción como otras muchas de “Wrecking Ball” contienen muestras o samples de textos novelescos, “Death to my hometown” contiene pasajes musicales y de texto de un viejo poema inglés de Philip Doddridge escrito en 1755 y musicalizado en 1869 por Sarah Lancaster, llamado “The Last words of Copernicus”.
El historiador y genio musical Alan Lomax juntó a los Alabama Sacred Harp Singers, para cantar “The Last words of Copernicus” el 12 de septiembre de 1959.
“Death to my hometown” fue escrita y grabada en el 2011, y los músicos que participaron en ella fueron, Bruce Springsteen (guitarra y voz), Ron Aniello (coros), Matt Chamberlain (batería y percusión), Kevin Buell (batería y coros), Charlie Giordano (órgano B-3), Rob Lebert (coros), Art Baron (tuba), Soozie Tyrell (violín), Ross Peterson (coros), and Cliff Norrell (coros).
La canción es una continua alegoría a la muerte del sistema económico actual y avariacia de las grandes corporaciones, «The Boss» enaltece a que cantemos todos para que la «muerte» no llegue a nuestros hogares y que la corrupción política no quede impune.

Bruce Springsteen has released a new video «Death To My Hometown», from his brand new album Wrecking Ball.
The clip features Springsteen performing the politically-charged song live in concert in Atlanta with his E Street Band and Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello.
Springsteen rails against corporate greed in ‘Death To My Hometown’, blaming the current struggles of the working class on growing political and business corruption.
‘Death To My Hometown’ is the second music video released from his newest album Wrecking Ball following the release of ‘We Take Care of Our Own’s promotional clip in February.
