«An American Treasure», recopilatorio con temas inéditos de Tom Petty

El 28 de septiembre se lanzará “An American Treasure” de Tom Petty, una caja especial que incluye 60 canciones de la carrera de Tom Petty, una docena de grabaciones no editadas previamente, versiones alternativas de clásicos, rarezas e históricas presentaciones en directo que destacan la profundidad y evolución de Tom Petty tras su trágica muerte, en octubre de 2017. “Keep A Little Soul” será el primer single de “An American Treasure” extraído de las sesiones inéditas registradas en 1982 y que luego, alguna de ellas formaría parte del disco “Long After Dark” publicado ese mismo año, su quinto álbum de estudio.

Las principales impulsores de este proyecto fueron Adria y Dana Petty, hija y esposa del cantante, a modo de tributo siendo las productoras ejecutivas con Mike Campbell y Benmont Tench, compañeros de banda de Tom a lo largo de 45 años, y Ryan Ulyate, su colaborador de estudio, como colaboradores de este trabajo.

El corazón de los Heartbreakers se rompió. Tom Petty falleció a los 66 años tras sufrir un ataque cardíaco en su domicilio de Malibú el año pasado. El cantante dejaba tras de sí un legado recordado por temas com oAmerican Girl o Learning to fly y una trayectoria que le atestigua como eterno icono musical.

El intérprete, que había recibido 10 nominaciones a los Premios Grammy desde 1981 y había vendido 80 millones de discos a lo largo de su carrera, será recordado como uno de los más grandes. A través de sus alegres melodías, Petty expresó las preocupaciones de toda una generación estadounidense también influida por los acordes de The Beatles, Bob Dylan o Elvis Presley.
